About Begi
Begi is a cultural brand born from “seeing” and “discovering.”
Its name comes from the Basque word for “eye,” symbolizing our origin—an observing gaze that captures the details of the world, turning what we see and sense into cultural experience.
We believe culture is not only found in grand histories or celebrated works of art, but also in the small, fleeting moments of everyday life: the fragrance rising from a cup of tea, the marks left by a craftsman’s hands, the flavors and habits nurtured by the land.
It is in these seemingly ordinary instants that the true pulse of culture resides.

Selection
Textures and Landscapes of an Island
At Begi, curation begins with observation. Through a quiet gaze upon materials, craft, and the passage of time, we seek creations that embody the spirit of Taiwan’s land. Tea leaves, spirits, ceramics, fabrics, scents— each is more than a product; it is a cultural language woven into daily life. Every selection we make carries the touch of the island— the warmth that lingers between mountains and sea, and the breath of the artisans who shape it.
Taiwanese Cuisine
Flavor as the Language of Culture
Cuisine is the most direct form of cultural expression. Led by a Taiwanese chef, Begi’s culinary philosophy draws from the island’s ingredients and landscapes, translating Taiwan’s memory, identity, and taste into each dish. In sharing these flavors abroad, we invite people to see, understand, and feel Taiwan— to discover its depth and warmth through the simple act of dining together.
Media & Culture
To Observe and Convey
Culture is not only created; it is sustained by being seen and shared. Through film, writing, and exhibitions, Begi documents the textures of Taiwan— from the gestures of artisans to conversations around the dining table. We aim to move beyond mere documentation, to transform observation into understanding, and stories into empathy. This is Begi’s pursuit: a quiet transmission of island culture, inviting the world to see Taiwan through our eyes.

Our creations are more than Taiwanese tea liquors, crafts, or curated goods.
They are cultural vessels, carrying the memories of land and people. Our team is not only made up of designers and curators, but also chefs who step into restaurants and local communities. Through cuisine, they engage in exchange, turning the dining table into a bridge of culture.
What Begi seeks is to let each object become a gateway to culture. One item opens a journey of discovery; one conversation extends the flavor of a moment. Through diverse forms, we hope to bring Taiwan’s sensory landscapes to Japan— and from there, connect with the wider world.

Culture begins with seeing.
Between mountains and sea, in the shifting light of rice fields and tea gardens, Taiwan’s culture unfolds quietly. Begi turns these everyday moments into experiences of perception— objects that carry the warmth of culture, dishes that tell the stories of the land, media and design that let culture cross boundaries.
We believe that each act of looking is a dialogue with the world. We invite you to join us, to carry Taiwan’s sensibilities afar, and let culture continue in wider, open spaces.
